Comparing the M/M/1 Model to Actual Traffic Behavior

چکیده

In order to be able to accurately predict the behavior of traffic on a network, one must have a good model. Traditional models (the M/M/1 model is studied here) of traffic behavior are not completely accurate. By examining actual traffic data on a network and comparing them to the analytical results predicted by modeling, we can show how well the model can predict traffic behavior. By comparing the mean queuing delay on several levels, we can see that the mathematical model provides values within 10% of the actual traffic examined. We can see that though there is room for improvement in traffic prediction, the mathematical model provides a very good approximation of the traffic behavior.

Model Predictive Control System Design using ARMAX Identification Method for Car-following Behavior

The control of car following is essential due to its safety and its operational efficiency. For this purpose, this paper builds a model of car following behavior based on ARMAX structure from a real traffic dataset and design a Model Predictive Control (MPC) system. Based on the relative distance and relative acceleration of each instant, the MPC predicts the future behavior of the leader vehic...

A Probabilistic Three-Phase Time Domain Electric Arc Furnace Model based on analytical method

An electric arc furnace (EAF) is known as nonlinear and time variant load that causes power quality (PQ) problems such as, current, voltage and current harmonics, voltage flicker, frequency changes in power system. One of the most important problems to study the EAF behavior is the choice of a suitable model for this load. Hence, in this paper, a probabilistic three-phase model is proposed base...

Prediction of foundations behavior by a stress level based hyperbolic soil model and the ZEL method

In shallow foundations, the third bearing capacity factor, N, has been found to show a decreasing tendency with increasing the foundation size. It is supported by experimental observations and related mainly to stress level dependent nature of the soil. On the other hand, the bearing capacity is often obtained theoretically without consideration of the foundation vertical displacements. In thi...

Modeling of the Relationships Between Spatio-Temporal Changes of Traffic Volume and Particulate Matter-2.5 Pollutant Concentration Based on Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) and Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) Model: A Case Study in Tehran M

Background and Aim: High concentrations of particulate matter-25 (PM2.5) have been the cause of the unhealthiest days in Tehran, Iran in recent years. This study was conducted with the aim of the spatio-temporal analysis of traffic volume and its relationship with PM2.5 pollutant concentrations in Tehran metropolis, Tehran during 2015-2018, using the Geographic Information System (GIS). Materi...

Effect of social traffic behavior on traffic violation the case study of Tehran

Current standards in microscopic modeling lack the ability to address certain traffic scenarios, the ability to capture discrete differences in driver behavior that exist between various driving populations, and are structured in such a fashion that various vehicle movements are predicted and modeled separately. In this study, effect of social traffic behavior on rate of traffic violation of ...
